I've been noticing a lot more bugs in our yard lately and mounds of dead leaves, twigs, and dead grass scattered all over our back yard. Nothing in our yard looked good. It was not a garden, it was a yard of dead leaves and dirty ground, which I got stuck in my head every time I was outside. Even our Zen garden was not a relaxing place to be, which defeated the purpose. I tried to bring this topic up with Ignacio the last time I saw him, when he was here with his new crew. Perhaps why are you dumping dead crap in the flower beds? was not really delicate enough for him, or maybe something was lost in translation. He got very defensive about it. He said it was mulch and didn't our lawn look good? Hmmm. The lawn does look good but the flower beds look like, well, dead leaves and dirty ground. And it smells bad and there are flies. I tried to point out that animals that are not ours poop on our lawn while we sleep so if he is mowing poopy lawn then dumping that on our plants he's just redistributing poo. This was the one conversation we had where he did not wax poetic at the end. There was no what can choo do? I would've been fine with that if he'd said it because we all know he is the boss of the garden and I would've just done what I ended up doing anyway. He comes on Fridays so between last friday and now, my husband and I have been very busy scooping up all the dead leaves and dirty ground. I suspect Ignacio did not wax poetic at the end of our last conversation because he thought I might suggest he pick up the months of dumped of dead crap, then I would really be the boss. Won't he be surprised tomorrow when he arrives to find the Zen garden totally emptied of the dead stuff and replaced with beautiful black mulch and living plants not buried in deadness? I am not sure if his ego will be deflated or he will be proud that I picked up on the mulch point of his reasoning. The rest of the yard is half-way scooped up the dead stuff. I wonder if it will be obvious to him now that we don't want the dirty leaves and dead ground redumped in the flower beds. Will seeing the newness be instruction enough? Should I be not home? Is he going to poo in the new mulch himself?
This will be interesting. What can I do?
