no jealous cards
The table in the entry way of my house is covered with holiday cards sent from friends and relatives. Every time I open the front door, a curious burst of wind comes and blows the cards all over the place and I get to set the cards out all over again. Each cards gets a turn being propped up! No jealous cards in my house!
Thanks to everyone who emailed about Karen's lump that she didn't know she had until she went for a mammogram just in case she had any lumps she didn't know she had. The doctor found two areas of concern and was able to biopsy one thing. The results of the first biopsy came back with no malignancy but some stuff that is long and complicated but that is probably of not too much concern but should be watched. She is having a lumpectomy on the other thing on Monday. Hopefully we will have the results of what that thing is not too long after that. The good news about the lumpectomy is that Karen will be knocked out for it and there will be plenty of drugs for her. Karen loves drugs. And, our feeling is it's best to get whatever bad thing it might be OUT. Out damn spot!
We also appreciate everyone who emailed to tell me I must rush to get a mammogram because Karen has lumps. I heard you loud and clear and don't you worry one second! I will get one because it has long been the case that whatever Karen gets, I get and likewise. Did we fail to mention that years before my disastrous candy corn tooth incident Karen broke the same tooth and had to get an implant, too? What are the odds of that? Hers broke in a play sword fight with her son and not on a candy corn, but it's still freaky.
And speaking of freaky, when I went to a follow up appointment with the dental surgeon a couple weeks ago, there was a nurse in the room who seemed oddly familiar but I wasn't sure how I knew her. I almost hesitate to tell this story because now she has all my details. Anyway, she looked at me kind of weird and said, I know you. You're the artist and my son plays in your yard.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I didn't want to open my mouth after that. This single mom and her young son live next door in the sad green house I refer to as Boo Radley's. Her son often plays in my front yard and I never say anything about it yet always wondered why his mother doesn't just have him play in their front yard. My front yard does have a really good tree for hiding behind, but still. He never leaves balls in my yard and seems like a good kid and I always feel sorry for him because his single mom rents a room in the sad house. I feel less sorry for them now that I know she is a nurse in this ultra expensive surgeon's office where all the workers seem very happy.
So, which neighbor of Karen's will be seeing her naked on Monday?

Yay for no jealous cards. I'm glad you are getting a mammogram. I am glad that Karen's lump is a nothing with some concern. It is better than a something with a lot of concern.
I think it is sweet you let the boy with the single mom play in your yard!

I'm glad that all the cards from all the faiths are getting along well. I've lit the Menorah for the third day in a row because Josh isn't here and he's taking care of it for his Jewish boyfriend - who is out of town. Anyway - I light it and then turn on my tree. I just feel that the Menorah is sitting here and needs to be respected. Also - it's very pretty.
I like drugs just like Karen :)
I like naked people too! I hope the neighbor who sees her naked is not creepy. Don't want to be weird-ed out by it all!
All ladies have to check for lumps and take good care. I'm sure that Karen is 100% ok - but it's good to make sure and it's good to get legal drugs.

I can top that, girl. A few years ago I went in for my annual physical, including a pelvic, and the nurse was a former student. Ew.
I have since realized it would have been ok to say, "Uh. I'm uncomfortable with this. Can I get another nurse?" I'll bet she would have been relieved, too. ;-)
Hope all is well with you and yours. Have a great week and wonderful new year.

Maybe the cat belongs to them, too. Did you ask?
Happy Hanukkah....and let's make sure 2009 kicks 2008's ass.

I received "Journal Revolution" as a holiday gift and have just devoured every word, idea and picture. It is, by far, the best journaling book I've ever read. Thank you both, from the bottom of my heart...I'm seeing things in a whole new light (even the trashcan is being journaled!)
Now I MUST go and purchase "Visual Chronicals"!!!
With much...
Peace & Love,

Linda do you remember when I painted our trash can with flowers? I had forgotten until I just read the post by Barb above. Maybe you were too young to remember, but it was a large can, started out silver and then became this "garden" scene. It was fun to do. Did that at the Walnut Creek house.

Glad she is getting the mammy, they aren't pleasant but very necessary. As for the dental nurse, I hear ya and I will raise you. When I had my first baby I had to show the "area" to make sure all was well and that I was healing. Well, the nurse that came for a looky lew was a high school classmate of mine. I have since lost all sense of dignity. Gone. Out the window. It was horrifying. I'm sure it was no picnic for her either!! haha I'm glad you let the boy play in your yard too!
