moist and chewy
Today We're FEELIN' GROOVY about:
~Trader Joe's Moist and Chewy Coconut Macaroon cookies. The ones in the clear plastic tub. So juicy and good.
They are really soft so if you are in really bad pain from a mo fo tooth implant, these are perfect.
~Redken Spray Starch. Use it on wet hair before you blow dry and you won't need hair spray.
~Pecan pie. I want some. Does anyone have a good recipe?
~Spending a few days in Palm Springs next week to do some more photography for this.
~A USB hub card reader thing. WOW! What took me so long to get one? Now I don't have to keep unplugging things to plug in other things.
Our Bêtes Noires:
~My car has been in and out of the shop all week and when they fix one thing, it breaks another.
~Really bad customer service. Why is it my job to make the store employees feel better? Isn't it their job to make me happy? Yesterday when I was at Sears getting my car battery replaced (a faulty battery I bought from them) the sales guy said I had to wait because he was going to die if he didn't have a cigarette and just walked off. He was the only employee in that department. When he returned, he didn't immediately help me. Instead, he started making phone calls. What the hell, man? He didn't even have any reason to diss me. I hadn't said anything more than hi. When he finally did start helping me, he had to complain about his life while singing lovely Linda in between his woes. Is that a song I am supposed to know or should I just sell my house and move now? And why do men think if they sing a song with your name in it you won't think they are freaks?
~The term social media. I never want to hear it again. I also never want to hear social media maven. What is next, altered social media diva? If you are calling yourself a social media maven, you probably aren't one. If you are one, people just know who you are. You don't have to tell people you are good at schmoozing.
~Everyone we know and love is breaking. Aging sucks. So do dental implants and flippers. Never get one. Yes, I am still not done complaining. I am sore and queasy all the time and it's making me so grumpy! I'll be over it soon because in a day or two there will be free books and art and a contest here (YAY!)

IF i could sing in the comments, I totally would. I agree that singing men are creepy. So are walking dictionary/book men. You know the ones. They have to tell you EXACTLY everything from their book in their head, and then, when you act like you aren't interested, they tell you even more. All from the book. STRAIGHT from the book. The one they keep in their head. The one that replaces their penis, and takes over the world...
Not that I know anyone like that.

pardon my ignorance, but WTF is a social media maven??????

I hope you get well soon! Again, those photos were beautiful of you, your hubby and Jayel Aheram!
I apologize for me and everybody who went in on the Alltop.com deal, free book, but yeah.
Mmmmm…Macaroons! When I was on vacation in Turlock,CA (yeah, I know!) we took a day trip to Carmel. Wow, that place is nice, and the ocean…I digress. Carmel bakery has the best macaroons ever!
Again - positive vibes sent your way, hoping all will be well soon!

Rachel: when song guy and book guy are the same guy, watch out!
Kass: social media mavens are people who use facebook/twitter/myspace/blogs to network
Christian: Northern Cali has the best food! Hey,everyone on twitter retweeted that heart disease thing. I get it. :)
I loved Jayel's photos, too. He's so talented!

Hub Card readers RAWK! I got one last year and I LURVE it.
I hate breaking. Ew.

Eeew! I know one of those maven people. She even told me that she "friends" other people's friends, because if they like them, she will too! Does that even make sense?
Pecan pie recipe emailed to you. The recipe makes 2, so you might share with Karen, or just enjoy them yourself. Kristina made them for Thanksgiving, and they were the best ever.

every time you recommend something from tj's, i feel like i MUST try it. just bought the candy cane joe joe's. yeah. i'm totally hiding them so no one else can eat them. omg..that must mean i am a food hoarder. add that to the list of issues. great.

If I break all the way, I'm leaving Hanna to you. She's not a cat, and she will totally mutilate any ball that enters your yard and scare the people who try to park boats in front of your yard. As a bonus, she won't claw you to death as long as you keep her fed and let her lounge under your desk.
I've yet to try a Redken product because they're not available where I shop. Maybe some Glass and Spray Starch would improve upon my au natural look. Then again, I hear coconut is good for the hair, so maybe I'll stick with macroons.

Ugh stupid sears. WalMart is worse. I always end up in the line with the teenagers who seem to know I was THAT girl in high school, you know, the one everyone else picked on and then they say really mean things or follow me around Barns and Noble making fat jokes until I tell them I am going to get them kicked out REALLY loudly if they don't stop.
Unless Brice is with me, somehow having a cute guy with you stops all of that from happening lol.
Hopefully your car and the volvo get fixed and stay fixed.
I think Hope would be sad if the volvo died LOL!!

Hi Linda,
you wonder why that lovely Linda person is working in a shop.... Today i visited a fabric shop at the market. Because i want to make a journal of it, one yard is enough. He did not want to sell it, it wasn't worth cutting it. I had to buy 3 yard. And if i bought nothing... but i had arms full of fabric. Drives me nuts, money is money, or WHAT?!?! In these days of recession you thougt they worked harder....
Good luck with your car and the dental issue.

Don't you have Nana's recipe for pecan pie? Should be in that cookbook.
Posted by: Jan Curran | December 04, 2008 at 07:38 AM
Here's an easy recipe (Pecan is one of my favorites)...
---------------------------
Preheat oven to 350º. Combine the following and pour into a waiting pie shell*:
¼ cup sugar ¼ cup brown sugar
1 tsp flour ¼ tsp salt
½ cup light corn syrup ½ cup dark corn syrup
2 eggs ¼ tsp vanilla
2 tbsp melted butter 2 cups (+)* pecan halves
Cook for 50 minutes (but keep an eye on it, because oven temps do vary and you don't want overcook the crust).
* I use a pre-made pie shell, because I've been banned from making my own -- what with all the swearing. My husband couldn't take it (heh-heh).
** I always add extra pecans because I love 'em so much.
TIP: I melt the butter in the microwave and add everything to it...makes it fast.
---------------------------
HUGS and feel better soon!

Car troubles suck. I went to pull my emergency brake thing the other morning (I drive a standard) and the handle pulled right off! This is the 2nd car that's done that to me! So, now I have to grip a wire thing and pull reaaaalll hard. ggrrrr...as the for the dental issue, sorry man, I feel for you. I just have a gaping hole where my molar used to be, maybe I should be happy about that??
