serious thinking
One thing I have learned about myself and about the way Karen and I work the best together is that when there is a lot to be done and thought about, the best way to be sure it all gets done is to not do whatever it is that needs doing. We need to do the opposite of what needs doing. I think best, solve best, do my best when am doing something other than what needs to be done. A really big part of writing or creating art is thinking. It's a huge part of it. Thinking matters.
Sometimes thinking appears as just sitting in front of the tv, or sitting in a chair listening to music, or mindlessly putting cookie after cookie into my mouth. Today, thoughts came in the form of me experimenting with various forms of foundation and blush. And, for extra drama, I tried brown eyeliner instead of black. There was some serious thinking going on today.
I think I am ready to tackle that pile of crap on the table now.
I wonder where I put those cookies.

Sooooo happy and relieved to know that I'm not the only one who does other things when a lot of serious things need to be done. Doing other things does free your mind for creativity flow, I think. And lets the light in. On my end, however, the house work is ALWAYS left for last. Very, very last. LOL.

oh honey, if you think that is a pile of crap on your table then I need to take a picture of mine!! Just multiply your by about 13. There are about three layers that I can distinguish (the first being the white paper I covered the table with so the dd and her friends could do art ... at least 2 weeks ago.
And it does not help that I can still see out the window ... sky is not really "greening" just a sickly shade of orange. Tornadoes please stay away!!

Is that a bag of bagels I spy on the table? From here, it looks like an Einstein Bros. bag.
See, now I COULD be tackling my pile, but I have taken my cue from you and have chosen to THINK about it while doing something else altogether. Blog stalking. Drinking coffee. Listening to Janis Ian sing me a lullaby.
My reservoir is just filling up.

TOTALLY on board with the heavy thinking while APPEARING to be 'wasting time'. For me, this includes some heavy procrastination as well. For instance, I have about nine scribbled lists of things I need to pack for my trip with my two little ones on Wednesday. I actually ENJOY packing. But I am putting it off because I can't decide which of my new favorite things to pack...especially since apparently unless you are Richie McRich and can afford first class, you are only allowed to check ONE SUITCASE when travelling now. ARE THEY KIDDING ME? How am I supposed to pack all my various lotions, cremes, shoes, comfy clothes, dressing clothes, casual clothes, hot-day clothes, chilly windy weather clothes, shoes to match these various outfits AND diapers and babywipes and outfits for these various occasions for my girls as well???
Well, I am busy doing some SERIOUS thinking about all this packing. Paniced-Strategic-Packing-Thinking is what is going on now.....

LOL! That is so funny! I recently moved - around the corner from "our" Jakers, I have boxes and piles of crap everywhere. So, naturally - I'm here online reading blogs :) Makes perfect sense to me!
Thanks for the chuckle - hope you found the cookies!
