ridiculously nice

It is a saturday night and things are just so happening over here at the Woods house, as usual. I am eating brownies and answering emails, or at least trying to. This is my favorite kind of happening. The type of happening where I am at home and nothing is happening. One email caught my attention and I thought I should just share it with you for some extra fun! This one comes from youtube user scrapmom65:

I am an avid scrapbooker and would never scrapbook using these ridiculous techniques. Use masking tape, gum wrappers to scrapbook? Ridiculous! Would like to see what the scrapbook looks like in 10 years! I want my scrapbooks to last for many generations and always use acid and lignin free products. Looks like something my 4 year old would use for scrapbooking.....gum wrappers and masking tape. I will pass this video on to my scrapbook friends for a good laugh!

OH MY BUDDHA! She sounds like a lot of fun to rise up and create with! So warm and fuzzy! And nice, don't you think she seems nice? Ridiculously nice.

mmm hmmm ridiculously nice. I bet her favorite color is beige. Beige or Taupe.
Come to think if it I hate that word taupe.
Off to find some gum wrappers:)
Speaking of gum... strawberry banana extra gum is fricken fantastic and the package is calling to be put on a page with some pink duct tape.

lol she sounds lovely off to find some gum wrapper too infact I might just stick my gum on my lo

keep up the good work love the blog

louise xx

lol...how appropriate to read this on the day dedicated to scrapbooking...

thanks for the you tube link...i got to watch the rosie appearance! you guys were fabulous and SO INSPIRING!! its easy for me to get caught up in the PRODUCT so it was a great reminder that all you need is a glue stick...and that dang gum wrapper haahaahaa

ohhh I like how she manages to dis(s?) her kid AND you at the same time! Maybe her next generation won't want her stupid scrapbooks since she's so... NICE.

and yet you on The View is one of her faves???

Wow. You know even if I felt that way (which I don't) it would have been a waste of my time to type that out to you.

I love what you're doing! You don't have to follow the rules to have fun or make art!

She obviously hasn't noticed that old gum is one of the world's best adhesives. Must not eat out much and get her leg stuck on the treasures under the table. Maybe you should direct her to the blog of your favorite friend that we were discussing when you were here?

Some people get so uptight with being archival in their scrapbooking.......that they can't see how much FUN it is to use what's around you.
Who cares if its here in 100 years! I won't be here and I don't really care how long it last.......I HAD FUN DOING IT!!!
That's what its all bout!

Wow, she DOES sound like fun! We should totally have her over for cosmos. You bring the plastic martini glasses and I'll bring the cheap vodka and let's whip up something that looks like her 4 yo son was the bartender!!
btw, i buy more masking tape than a house painter and it all goes in the journal!!!
I love your stuff, Viva la revolution!

If her 4 year old uses gum wrap and masking tape to scrapbook, I think this very NICE woman has a genious of a son. She should learn from him. Although too bad for her, and for her son, her ridiculously nice narrow mind won't let her experience the beauty of authentic art and self expression. I only feel sorry for her.

How lucky that she would take time away from her child to send you such a ridiculously ... nice ... email.

We really need more people like her in scrapbooking, don'tcha think? Really, disparaging another person's art is such a full time job that she must have helpers - like elves deciding which art is naughty and which is nice...ridiculously nice.

Hi, I got a link to this post from another blog - and since I am a scrapbooker, thought I would check it out. Hmmmm -basically what she said is so out of line. There is a place for scrapbooking and a place for art journals (I also keep an art journal - and I glue down with whatever is on hand) In fact, with some of my thoughts, I don't particularly WANT longevity in those pages! Sorry, but true.
I am sorry for her outburst.
Her making comparisons between scrapbooking and art journaling is like comparing Monet to Picasso - a person will probably see art in one and 'junk' in the other - all depends on your mind set.

Awww, what a sweetheart! I wish she lived really close by so we could get together and blah blah blah blah blah.

oh, wait ... I forgot that being bored to death is the worst way to die :)

love you anyway, I mean in that "I have never met you but I feel like I know you" kind of way!

OMG! What a b*tch! I bet she is just a fabulous person to know!

She obviously doesn't get it.

oohh i think i love her, LOL. not. (does it date me to say "not"??)

poor 4 year old probably doesn't have much time left before she has to conform and have any breath of true creativity squashed out of her. Apparently there are RULES and all and individuality must be stopped at all costs.

ohh too, too much. really.

thanks for warning us... er sharing with us...about the NICE LADY!

Damn I wish I were as nice as that. You never quote me on your blog!!

hee hee

Love you the bestest!!

reading her email made me want to vomit the brownie i just ate!! wtf!?!? she is so not cool.

ROFLMAO.... *snort*

Yikes!
as we say in times that require far less seriousness:
"...lighten up, Francis!"

One thing we know: When you're in the public eye (Linda on the Loudspeaker) you'll get the positive crowds but inevitably, the random person from the dark side.

Lettin' it go, fingers in ears singing: "La la la la la..."

Pass me the gum wrappers and by the way, I hope that all of my books and albums just spontaneously combust upon my death. My family can remember me by telling the tales, rolling their eyes and lifting their glasses.

Lisa H.

She is just SO nice isnt she???
LOL
Just a like a boil on your butt is nice.
she probably wears beige undies and never does anything just cos it is fun.

poo poo to her.

masking tape for ever!.
Ngaire.

I have even heard people say that they cannot cut a picture! I am so glad that I can look upon alternative creative expression and understand the beauty of it, unlike those that are so set in their ways that they fail to learn. I feel sorry for anyone so unable to open themselves to the possibilities of using the everyday beauty that surrounds them. Let's consider ourselves past the ordinary.
One of the most beautiful things I own is a little hand drawn picture on cruppled paper with staples and tape on it that says I LOVE YOU DEE,given to me by my darling 7 yr old great niece. Emma.

Ha! She sounds to be about as much fun as unflavored gelatin, watch out when she slips into those taupe/beige spectator pumps.......whoa mama! This woman would probably vomit if she knew some of the stuff that goes into my journals, for example if I am to lazy to refill my water and need a little to spread the paint more on the page I just spit a little and voila! the paint spreads like a dream.
Some people just aren't creative and need someone to tell them to do a,b,c,d to make a pretty page or layout, meh, that's not creativity, that's captivity.
Keep being the excitingly creative person you are, I certainly get a lot of inspiration from you. I like art on the edge, there's nothing more boring than conformity if you ask me, which you didn't but what the hey.
