real life

My big plan to spend a couple hours sitting by the pool getting caught up on email didn't really happen because instead I spent a couple hours getting caught up on day dreams and sleep. And Oprah magazine. And Vanity Fair.
The Salton Sea was interesting. I have a lot to say about it but no time, really. There was one moment when Tod and I made the same observation out loud. It was such a good one that I said it would be a great opening line of a story or essay and then we wondered which one of us should get to use it. I think Tod said he should since he writes fiction. Uh, I think I should because I write about real life and there was once life where we were standing...maybe. There certainly is not anymore. Either way, it does not matter now because thanks to Topamax, I do not remember what that great best-selling line was. But, at the moment I do not have a migraine so forgetting an idea every 5 seconds is worth it.
I haven't had a chance to upload any of my photos yet, but my beloved husband has uploaded some of his.
Oh man. I need more Go Girl. Makers of Go Girl, please send me a lifetime supply. I'm gonna turn up the music, squirt some paint out and get to work. I need the music blasting while I make art.
*Clickety click over to the Stars Down site. I like their logo. I like that Mona Lisa song.
*When I was in Salinas, Mistress O' Marketing, Wendy Brickman got me listening to Mike Beck.
*Check out Jen Foster. If you like Brandi Carlile, you will like her.
* Neil Diamond has a new cd which includes a duet with Natalie Maines!!!!! OMFG!!! Am I in Heaven?

I am really loving Jen Foster's New Video for Closer to Nowhere! and I just recently been introduced to Stars Down, how I heart them!
I totally get the whole Shared Observations, me and my 80's Rocker Mom ( Pam) are always thinking the same thing, great minds do think alike, but it is always a contest who will use the insperation and oberservation first when both of you are writer Types!
Have a Art filled weekend! and your life supply of You go Girl, is in the mail!

I remember all: "And then the street ended in nothing."

Mon frere, that was a variation of it. The real thing was way better and much more poetic.

Uh..."And then the street ended in nothing but a weird Chinese food restaurant that was welcoming to truckers."

If I had been there, the line would have been REALLY great ;-)

Well, all I have to say is, had I been there, there would have been a picture of the exact moment in which the words were said. Now that would have been a great way to remember the words, wouldn't it? Or maybe not. LOL.

Oh ye of little faith....there is a photo of the exact moment and spot where the thought happened and there really is a memory of the excellent sentence.
;)
Have ya met me?

And, I thought Tod always had total recall. Hey, loved Dustin's photos.. so many good shots. .. the one of La Quinta made me homesick. Didn't it smell at the Salton Sea? When I went there it smelled like rotten eggs.

Just wanted to wish my favorite blogger a Happy Mother's Day! Yours is one of the only blogs where every post is a good one. Your books have really inspired me, too. It was such a relief to be told I do NOT have to use only archival quality glue sticks and ink. THANK YOU!!!!

Sleep and lollygagging are usually more needed than catching up on email! Have you heard the James Taylor and Dixie Chick Duets from CMT Crossroads??
Also wanted to tell you I just bought your books, and returned what I had to the library! I can't wait for that Amazon box in the mail. :)
Also -posted a video of one of those versions of "Throw Your Arms Around Me" on my blog.

Neil Diamond...move over a few feet and leave room for Mike Beck. He's really an amazing songwriter and performer. Thanks, Linda for sharing!

Oh Linda, Neil Diamond?!
(She sighs heavily. She hides her dismay.)
Let's just say I loved the part about squirting paint. It was kinda pornographic.
